The laboratory is equipped with sophisticated instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Root and leaf scanner, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, Infrared gas analyzer (IRGA); Refrigerated centrifuge facility for plant mineral nutrition and other morpho-physiological and biochemical investigations.  The laboratory also possesses plants samples digestion system, Incubator-shakers and Ultra low deep refrigeration system i.e. -80oC.

Board of Radiation & Isotope Technology (BRIT) has commissioned a highly sophisticated Gamma Irradiation Facility (Gamma chamber-5000) at the division, which uses Cobalt-60 as the radiation source. The principal applications of this radiation facility are being made in the area of crop improvement, crop protection, post-harvest management and shelf life extension of agri-produce. The advantage of using this facility is that it does not induce any radioactivity in food and does not leave any harmful or toxic radioactive residues in the sample. Thus, the irradiated food is safe for human consumption.  The services to the facility are available to any intending users and are also provided to ICAR and non-ICAR universities /Institutes and universities along with private industries. Various seed companies, Mahyco, Shakti seeds, Patanjali, JK papers, ITC have made use of the facility in the past.

The division has a designated laboratory for research using radiotracers. The laboratory was commissioned with the approval of the AERB, Government of India and allows authorized personals to use open source radioisotopes for their research in the disciplines of area of plant physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology. The laboratory boost of radiation monitoring devices and personal dosimeter systems for individual users. The research on use of radioisotopes and radiations are organized under the supervision of the AERB approved Radiological Safety Officer (RSO), who is stationed at the Division and looks after the procurement to use and disposal of radioisotopes in the Institute and allied ICAR Institutes. RSO also imparts regular training on safer handling and use of radioisotopes to newly registered radioactivity users at the institute.

The above facilities are utilized by Scientists and researchers of this Division and those from other Divisions of the Institute for research purposes, students’ academic and research activities and by various universities like DU, JNU, Amity University and others.
